How Not to Break a Hardbound Book
Published: Wed, 08/17/22
When you read a real hardbound book, you want to hold it open like a V. NEVER FLAT. If you open the book flat, it breaks the binding of the book! Then pages can fall out when you break the binding. So NEVER hold any physical hardbound book flat!
Hold it between your hands in a V shape, or on your legs when sitting, or use a wooden book stand that holds the book LIKE A V SHAPE, AND NOT FLAT.
Hardbound books are meant to be treated with respect, as almost sacred objects that hold real wisdom within them.
NEVER set them open flat on a table or bed. That's one sure way to break the binding! You want to keep it together of course, so the V angle of the two sides of the book as you read is the way to go.
I hope that helps many who are not used to real hardbound books, or large books. It will save all of your books for a long run.
I even see retailers selling book holders that hold books FLAT. Horrible!!
Find those little portable book holders that look like an X when they are open. The book goes into the top part of the X (a V) and keeps the book open while you read. The bottom part of the X are the legs of the stand. Then, the book holder folds flat for travel or packing too!
Growing up I dealt with a lot of hardbound books. Teachers used to teach people how to read them properly. That is not done very often, so I wanted to clue you in, in case no one told you either.
